‘No’ Farmers short-sighted about the opportunities that Lisbon offers

Thursday, 20 August 2009:

The youth campaign, Generation YES says the No to Lisbon Farmers’ group is being short-sighted about the opportunities that the Lisbon Treaty offers.

Bart Storan, Campaign Manager, says: “Saying no to Lisbon is saying no to opportunities and progress for Irish industry and Irish young people, especially in the renewable energy and technology sectors.”

“The idea that the Lisbon Treaty is directly linked to Turkey joining the EU is simply not true and another example of the ‘No’ side spreading myths and untruths to distract from the real, practical results that Lisbon will deliver.”

Generation YES also points to the latest statement of support for Lisbon from Intel boss, Jim O’Hara.

“When you have a leader of a major technology company saying that we need this Treaty for future growth and innovation, the opportunities which Lisbon offers cannot be ignored,” adds Bart Storan.
